01CONCEPT

A quiet hideaway.

This is not a base for sightseeing.
Being in the room is the whole point.

You do not have to meet anyone. You do not have to decide anything. Watching the light outside the window change is enough to fill a day.

There is a television, though this is the kind of room where you may never turn it on. There are records, too, and a few books.

The Seto Inland Sea is a sea of islands. Behind the nearest one there is another, and another behind that.
The further they are, the fainter they become, until they dissolve into the horizon.

03THE COUNTER

A counter,on the raised floor.

We lifted the bedroom floor by one step and set a long counter along the window. Sit down, and the sea is exactly at eye level.

Coffee in the morning, beer in the afternoon, music at night. You end up sitting there all day.

＊THE VIEW

Sit down, and your eyes are level with the sea.

You can see the sea standing, too. But sit down and the horizon comes exactly to eye level. That is why the counter is the height it is.

04RECORDS & BOOKS

Until side A ends,nothing has to be decided.

A record player, and a few books we chose. You are welcome to bring a record of your own and put it on.

The needle lifting at the end of a side is the loudest sound in the house.

05ROOMS

Three rooms, one sea.

There are three bedrooms: two guests in the raised-floor room facing the sea, and two and three in the other two rooms — seven in all. The bedrooms open onto the living room and kitchen, so the house suits a family or a group of close friends.

06AROUND

Sleeping beside the sea.

The sea is directly below the window. Boats leave Takamatsu Port for the islands. The port and the station are about twenty minutes on foot, and the bus stop is seven. Start the morning with udon, or spend the day on an island.

07ACCESS

Access.

From JR Takamatsu Station	About 1.4 km, roughly 19 minutes on foot. By taxi it is about 1.7 km, roughly 6 minutes and about 900 yen
From Takamatsu Port	About 1.5 km, roughly 20 minutes on foot (ferries to Megijima, Ogijima and Naoshima)
From Takamatsu Airport	Airport bus to JR Takamatsu Station, about 45 minutes, then a local bus, or about 19 minutes on foot
By car	About 15 minutes from the Takamatsu-Chuo interchange
Parking	One free parking space, in a car park a short walk away. Large vehicles may not fit, so please ask in advance
By bus	The Omatoba bus stop is about 7 minutes (500 m) on foot. Kotoden buses (the Machinaka Loop Bus and the Aeon Takamatsu line) run from there towards JR Takamatsu Station. The loop bus costs 200 yen and runs about every 40 minutes; please check the current timetable

* Distances and times are taken from Google Maps (September 2026). The taxi fare is an estimate based on the Takamatsu Taxi Association tariff revised on 16 March 2026 (600 yen for the first 950 m, then 100 yen per 275 m). Fares are higher late at night and vary with traffic.

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking?

One free space is reserved for guests, in a car park a short walk away. For a second car we can point you to a pay car park nearby. Large vehicles may not fit, so please tell us in advance.

How does check-in work?

You take the key from a key box at the entrance. The code is sent to you after booking, so you can arrive at your own pace, even late in the evening.

How many people can stay, and who sleeps where?

Up to seven. Two in the raised-floor bedroom facing the sea, and two and three in the other two bedrooms. The bedrooms open onto the living room and kitchen rather than being closed-off rooms.

Which room has the sea view?

The raised-floor bedroom, whose window faces north. Sit down at the counter and the Seto Inland Sea is exactly at eye level.

Can we walk from the station or the port?

JR Takamatsu Station is about 19 minutes on foot, Takamatsu Port about 20. With heavy bags, the Omatoba bus stop is 7 minutes away (200 yen to the station), or a taxi takes about 6 minutes and around 900 yen.

Can we come with children?

Yes. The sea-side room is one step higher than the rest of the floor, so please watch your footing with small children. Please ask us about cots and other baby items.

Can we smoke, or bring a pet?

The whole house is non-smoking, and we ask that you do not bring pets.

Is the house cleaned during a longer stay?

There is no cleaning between nights. Please let us know if you need extra towels or amenities.

While you are here

Please keep the noise down after 22:00. The house is on the ground floor of a residential building.
The whole house is non-smoking. Please also refrain from smoking outside, as smoke drifts into the neighbouring homes.
Please separate your rubbish and leave it as described in the guide inside the house.
Fireworks, loud music and use of the house for parties are not permitted.
